The day I met twin pearls. ——The beginning of jewelry born from a relationship
Do you know about twin pearls?
Rather than the one pearl that you often see, these are two beads that were born by chance stuck together in nature.
I will tell you the story of how I met twin pearls and how they became jewelry.
1. First encounter - it seemed like a coincidence, but inevitable
One day, I visited a farmer who always purchases Akoya pearls.
The purpose is to purchase Akoya pearls for use in other works.
As I was talking, I suddenly remembered, "Yes, there's something like this," and took it out from the back.He showed me the case.
I was peering in anticipation of what kind of pearl it was.
It is packed with small, cute baby pearls, packed with powdered snow, almost like a pile of powdered snow.
However, when I saw this, I was sure that I hadn't noticed anything special about these pearls, and spread the powdered snow on the tray.
The moment I opened the case, the things that roamed not just one, but two grains that snuggled together perfectly, making twin pearls look like snowmen.
The moment I saw it, I was captivated by its cuteness at first sight.
2. A story of the birth of twin pearls heard from a farmer
As I picked up the twin pearls and looked after them, the artisan told me about its birth.
"Akoya shells contain multiple nuclei to grow pearls, but in the years and years of growth in the ocean, two nuclei can sometimes stick together.
I would be grateful if they could have grown one grain at a time, but this cannot be done on the part of a human being.
Conversely, even if you try to stick it together, you can't. It's a strange thing, it's a bead that can't be born without a connection. ”
Those words really moved me.
3. "I want to create this connection" - The beginning of the design
It is only because it cannot be controlled by human hands that it is valuable. It seems like a coincidence, but it's an inevitable encounter.
I wanted to turn that feeling into a shape as jewelry.
The perfect theme for twin pearls is "make a relationship."
The motif I chose as a symbol of this was a ribbon.
Twin pearls were gently set in the center of the ribbon, and tiny sparkling diamonds were added to each side.
Not too sweet, but gentle and cute. We aimed to create elegant cuteness that adult women can wear in everyday life.
4. Name--The birth of GOENDAMA
I wanted to give this jewelry a special name.
Twin pearls were born from a "connection."
These are two beads that are accidentally attached to each other by a creature called Akoya shell.
This was called "GOENDAMA."
This name is also a sign that for me that this encounter is not a coincidence, and is the very "connection" that I will continue to cherish.
The Goenju is the symbol of "one thing" and "one" that is at the heart of my creative activities.
A story of two beads that snuggle quietly
Nature connects you to this connection.
It was a prayer-like encounter, not just a coincidence.
I hope that the ring will be a special encounter for you as well.
